The drug delivery World market has been estimated at near 54 billions $ in 2005, i.e. close to 20% of the total pharmaceutical sales. In 2008, this market should reach 120 billions $, with a yearly increase rate of 15-20%. The explosion of the drug delivery market may be explained by the fact that Drug Delivery Systems increase the NCEs efficiency and offer the opportunity to use new compounds provided by the biotechnology companies (proteins, peptides, nucleotide acids etc…). Delivery Systems also increase the commercial life of a drug since they bring up to date patents.
Our technologies fully comply with these characteristics, even when registered with NCEs (or compounds already in the market) as new “medical devices” or a new “drugs”.
Our systems - in their first generation - are especially suited for applications with a release time not longer than 3 months. Moreover, when all the parameters of our technologies are optimised, we can successfully design very low burst formulations with full control of the release rates.
